Spiderman, Spiderman,
Does whatever a spider can.
Spins a web, any size,
Catches thieves just like flies.
Look out! Here comes the Spiderman…..

When my 4 year old son went down for a nap he was dressed from head to toe in Spiderman PJs he had been wearing from the night before (yes the weekends are set aside for all day PJs, unless we are headed out of the house). Never did I think he would have taken the role of Spiderman during this nap….

My son is naturally mischievous; just recently he ‘washed’ my computer after he climbed over the gate in his door way and woke up and opened my daughter’s gate on her door.

Since that day (and we have done this in the past) we put 2 gates on his door, one on top of another. The gates, together, stand about 3/4s the height of the door. (more…)

Lt. Michael P. MurphyOn Oct. 11th the White House announced U.S. Navy SEAL, Lt. Michael P. Murphy will be presented the U.S. Navy Medal of Honor, awarded posthumously, during a ceremony at the White House Oct. 22.

From news.navy.mil

Murphy was the officer-in-charge of the SEAL element, which was tasked with locating a high- level Taliban militia leader to provide intelligence for a follow-on mission to capture or destroy the local leadership and disrupt enemy activity. However local Taliban sympathizers discovered the SEAL unit and immediately revealed their position to Taliban fighters. The element was besieged on a mountaintop by scores of enemy fighters. The firefight that ensued pushed the element farther into enemy territory and left all four SEALs wounded.

The SEALs fought the enemy fearlessly despite being at a tactical disadvantage and outnumbered more than four to one. Understanding the gravity of the situation and his responsibility to his men, Murphy, already wounded, deliberately and unhesitatingly moved from cover into the open where he took and returned fire while transmitting a call for help for his beleaguered teammates. Shot through the back while radioing for help, Murphy completed his transmission while returning fire. The call ultimately led to the rescue of one severely wounded team member, Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Marcus Luttrell, and the recovery of the remains of Murphy and Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class (SEAL) Danny Dietz and Sonar Technician 2nd Class (SEAL) Matthew Axelson. read more

Lt. Michael P. Murphy is certainly someone you should know.

Well, I’ve been a mommy for almost two weeks now. I’ve had my ups and downs; tears of frustration, tears of raging hormones and tears of wanting to be able to help my baby but can’t. But, I must say that it has been the most wonderful thing I’ve ever experienced.

Never have I worked so hard for something so small. Never have I loved something that is so small so much. Never have I fallen in love with anyone as quickly as I have after Tristyn was born. Never have I worried so much about the health, safety and well being of anyone. Never have I longed or ached to hold something as I have for my baby. Never have I felt so much joy, affection, excitement as I have the past few days.

I feel so blessed to have the oppertunity to be a mom. It has been hard to adjust to having a baby. What used to take ten minutes now takes thirty, what used to take an hour now takes three. It is a struggle to get out of the house before 12pm unless we are up at 6am. It has been such an adventure though and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!!

As I promised, pictures are here!! I wasn’t sure how to post them, but now I do… THANKS WENDY! I tried before but I wasn’t smart enough to figure it out. Sorry my posts have been overdue, the adjustment process has been difficult. Babies don’t come with owners manuals nor do you have to pass a test before you take one home. YIKES!!!

Today is the 232nd anniversary of the fleet, a chance to honor the customs, culture and history of sailors and their service.

On Oct. 13, 1775, in Philadelphia, the Continental Congress voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with 10 carriage guns, as well as swivel guns, and manned by crews of 80; the members resolved to send them out on a three-month cruise to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British army in America. more

This is the time of year for the Navy Ball.  We have attended many times.  This year with the hubby away, it is a tradition I will miss.  There is something very fun about getting all dressed up and having a date night with your very own Sailor!  :)   I’m hoping by this time next year he will be home!  For those of you attending this year, have a wonderful time…..and take the time (and money) to get your hair done!

Enjoy and Happy Birthday, Navy!

Enjoy!

Oh gosh!  This is a good one! :)
